Welcome to the Unfinished Portraits: Women's Lives Cut Short Page
Welcome to Unfinished Portraits: Women's Lives Cut Short, a digital art series created to honour women in the UK whose lives have been tragically taken by male violence.
Inspired by Adrian Brandon’s poignant work, where he drew portraits of Black Americans murdered by police, dedicating one minute for every year of their lives, this series follows a similar approach—each portrait representing a life cut short by male violence.

I try to draw each portrait for a minute for every year they lived as closely as I can however I prioritise the art of ensuring they still look like them, with their soul, life and their essence present. Ensuring they still look recognisably like them.

This project will continue until it no longer needs to exist, until male violence against women and girls is eradicated.

Every face you see here is more than a victim—they were daughters, mothers, friends, and dreamers. Their stories are ones of unimaginable loss, but also of resilience and remembrance.

We ask you to share these stories, to hold them close, and to never forget. You have the power to spread the message and help end violence against women and girls.

Together, we can ensure these lives are remembered, and that no more lives are lost.
